restonwood Forest lights up with its 41st annual ‘Nite of Lites’ Event from December 8 through December 30! Please click here for the 2018 Nite of Lites Map.

Prestonwood’s 785 homes participate in friendly, holiday-spirited competition for a variety of individual and block recognition categories which are awarded by a committee of guest judges. Additionally, our residents and touring guests contribute to the fun by nominating their favorite homes for the ‘People’s Choice’ award category, throughout December, using this website’s Online Voting feature!
 
December 8 is the Nite of Lites Committee’s Judging Night: A panel of independent judges tours the neighborhood and determines 2018’s “Best of” awards! The individual home award categories are: Best House, Best All-Around, Best Door, Best Mailbox, and Best Lamp Post. The group/block awards are: Best Block and Best Cul-de-sac.
 
The very popular Online Voting for residents and touring guests to nominate their favorite homes for the ‘People’s Choice Award’ will be open throughout December! Watch for the voting link on this website!
 
Nite of Lites photos: Residents and guests are encouraged to share their favorite Prestonwood Forest ‘Nite of Lites’ photos and videos by uploading them using the email link on this website’s ‘Event Photo Gallery’.
 
Additional resident-volunteers for ‘Nite of Lites Committee’ activities are always welcome – and appreciated. If you are interested in assisting with numerous activities in support of Prestonwood’s oldest and best-known Event, please click on this ‘Contact Us email link’ to foward event questions or contact information.

The 2018 Fall Festival on Saturday, October 6th was another great family event for Prestonwood residents to get together for fun activities, food and music. Our neighborhood constables participated and we all shared a beautiful day on the clubhouse grounds.

2018 July 4th Parade and Activities Print

2018 July 4th announcement

Prestonwood Forest Residents of all ages are invited to decorate everything (and everyone) in the ‘Red, White & Blue’ to ‘Roll and Stroll’ in the Independence Day Parade, Wednesday, July 4 – and participate in neighborhood activities after the Parade!

The Parade lineup starts at 9:40 a.m. at the corner of Ravenhurst Lane at Prestonwood Forest Drive. (People-powered entries line up along Ravenhurst to West of Prestonwood Forest Drive, motorized entries and floats to the East - watch for the Parade Starter!).

We are honored to again have the Knights of Columbus Color Guard lead the Parade with the national colors - and to host our first responders from the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office and Cypress-Creek Volunteer Fire Department ( be prepared to get wet, in the CCVFD ‘street shower’ after the Parade!)

The Independence Day Parade starts rolling at 10:00 am and ends on Glencliffe Lane at the Hancock Elementary school parking lot.

July 4th Parade Street Parking / No Trash Collection Reminders

  • Residents, who live along the Parade line up area and Parade route, are respectfully asked to not park vehicles in the street (between 8 am and noon) in order to facilitate Parade activities.
  • All Residents - please note that there will be NO trash collection on Wednesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. (Please do not place trash or carts curbside until service resumes on Saturday, July 7.)

Swimming Pools - Special Hours and Activities

For pool access after the Parade, residents are reminded to pack their 'Recreation Access Cards', along with their swim gear - when coming to the Independence Day Activities!

  • Pool-1 – (the Clubhouse Family Pool) opens early at 10 am, until 8 pm - and will feature DJ music and lifeguard-directed activities for the children, after the Parade!
  • Pool-2 – (the ‘Other’ Family Pool) will be open from 12-noon until 7 pm and might fit the bill for those seeking more tranquility around the pool.

July 4th ‘Picnic in the Park’.

Following the Parade, Prestonwood Forest residents are invited to a traditional Independence Day picnic treat. James Coney Island will return this year, courtesy of your Prestonwood Forest Utility District and Prestonwood Forest Maintenance Association.

Please stop by the Tennis Deck starting at 10:00 for your favorite chili, cheese (or however you like it) hot dog, along chips and soda! Food services will conclude at 12:00 (or earlier if supplies are exhausted.)

Congratulations to this year’s ‘People’s Choice Award’ winner for their recognition by residents and touring guests. Also a ‘hats off’ to the runner up nominee, 7503 Bairnsdale Lane, with its colorful display and placing a very close 2nd.
 
In addition, the following homes were frequently nominated: 8226 Thetford Lane, 13911 Charlynn Oaks Drive, 8118 Devonwood Lane, 8118 Wimbledon Lane, 8118 Coolshire Lane, 7514 Roebourne Lane, 8226 Brinkworth Lane, 8126 Dorrcrest Lane, and 8214 Coolshire Lane.

Prestonwood Forest Residents are reminded to mark their calendars for more neighborhood fun on Tuesday, July 4th with the neighborhood parade, picnic and children's pool games!

The Parade

The Parade Committee begins organizing the parade lineup at 9:40 a.m. at the corner of Ravenhurst Lane and Prestonwood Forest Drive. All residents are invited to bring their bicycles, tricycles, strollers, wagons, motorized vehicles, and decorate everything (and everyone) in the 'red, white and blue' to ‘roll and stroll’ in our wonderful neighborhood tradition!

2017 ‘Easter Egg Hunt’ Thank You Print
2017 Easter Egg Hunt - Thank You!Many thanks to Beth Lewis, the ‘Easter Bunny’, the Flyers Swim Team Board, the PFMA and the many resident volunteers- for their hard work and energy to ‘make it happen’ for our Prestonwood community! The Flyers ‘Easter family-photo frame’ and piñatas for the children were wonderful additions to Prestonwood’s Easter tradition. Thanks also to Michael Droll for his generous contribution of providing the coffee for all the adults in attendance. There were many cameras and cell phone cameras – so please be sure to share some of your favorite photos and help document this year’s fun event in the ‘Prestonwood Events Photo Gallery’.
