2021 Independence Day Parade and Festivities Print

2021 July 4th event July 3rd

Prestonwood's annual Independence Day Parade and Community Picnic is being celebrated on Saturday July 3rd! Mark your calendars to join your neighbors for more neighborhood fun with the Neighborhood Parade, the Picnic in the Park and Fun at the Pool with DJ music and pool games for our neighborhood children! Please remember to pack your Recreation Access Card, with your swim gear, for pool entry!

The Parade

The Parade Committee will begin organizing the parade lineup at 9:40 a.m. at the corner of Ravenhurst Lane and Prestonwood Forest Drive. Residents are invited to bring their bicycles, tricycles, strollers, wagons, motorized vehicles, and decorate everything (and everyone) in the ‘red, white and blue’ to ‘roll and stroll’ in our wonderful neighborhood tradition! All participants are welcomed!

Independence Day Neighborhood ‘Picnic in the Park’

Following the Parade, residents and their guests are invited to a traditional Independence Day picnic treat.

James Coney Island will return this year, courtesy of your Prestonwood Forest Utility District and Prestonwood Forest Maintenance Association. So, please stop by the Tennis Deck starting at 10:30 for your favorite chili, cheese (or however you like it) hot dog, chips and soda! Food services will conclude at 12:30 (or earlier if supplies are exhausted.)

Clubhouse Pool – Special Hours and Activities

The Clubhouse Pool (Pool-1) opens early at 10:30 am and residents are reminded to pack their ‘Recreation Access Card’ along with their swim gear when coming to the Parade. The large number of people attending the Parade each year makes Card access a requirement to ensure only residents and their accompanied guests are entering and using the Pool facilities. Lifeguard-directed pool games are planned for our neighborhood children, at Pool-1, and DJ music is scheduled to add to pool festivities. (Pool-2 opens at noon and follows the standard hours of operation).

Independence Day Parade Route & Parking

The Parade begins on Prestonwood Forest Drive at Ravenhurst Lane and ends at Glencliffe Lane at the Hancock Elementary School parking lot. Residents and guests are kindly reminded NOT to park vehicles along the parade route, as this will impede the Parade. Additionally, please keep in mind the annual Cypress Creek VFD ‘fire truck shower’ is planned at the intersection of Glencliffe Lane and Prestonwood Forest Drive. Street traffic will be diverted during this event, and you might not want to leave your windows down, if parking nearby.

Have a Safe and Happy Independence Day. See you at the Parade!
