NEW TRASH SERVICE PROVIDER Print
Click for more info on Best-Trash

Your Board of Directors is pleased to announce that beginning Wednesday, April 10, 2024, Best Trash will become the new trash service provider for Prestonwood Forest Maintenance Association!

Pick up days will remain the same on Wednesday/Saturday.

This service provider change allows us to continue all existing trash services and remain within our current operating budget. The decision was primarily based on the continually increasing and exorbitant charges being assessed by the existing provider, GFL Waste.

Beginning Saturday, April 6, 2024, GFL Waste will be removing their trash containers from each residence, so please do not be alarmed when your existing trash carts start to disappear.

Beginning the week of April 1, 2024, Best Trash will begin delivering one (1) new (black and red) 65 gallon rolling trash cart to each residence in the community. It may take them a few days or through the following week to get all of the carts delivered so if you have not received yours by late afternoon on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, please contact management through the Townsq homeowner portal or at the contact info at the bottom of the page.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT RESIDENTS NOT USE THE NEW TRASH CONTAINER PROVIDED BY BEST TRASH UNTIL AFTER APRIL 7, 2024. DO NOT SET THE NEW TRASH CONTAINER OUT FOR PICK UP UNTIL APRIL 10, 2024. MAKE SURE TO PUT YOUR EXISTING GFL/WCA TRASH CONTAINERS OUT FOR FINAL PICK UP ON APRIL 6, 2024.

All other aspects of your trash service are primarily the same and below you will find basic service FAQ’s to help answer any immediate questions you may have but please also visit the Best Trash website for additional information. We hope that all of you are pleased with this positive change for the community and we thank you in advance for your continued patience through the transition process!

Our community has curbside trash pickup. How does that work? For residents that have curbside trash collection, everything is placed on the curb near the street. Please place your trash no less than 3 feet from the curb. Please ensure that there is at least 4 feet of space all around for the trash to be collected. Please do not block any trash with a vehicle or trailer.

Why are we now using a smaller trash cart? The difference in service with Best Trash includes the crew performing manual pick up and not automated truck pick up, meaning residents can also set overflow trash that does not fit into the new container out for pick up on any scheduled trash day.

When is heavy trash day?  Heavy (bulky) trash pickup is offered each service day.

What is not accepted for trash collections? We cannot accept the following items for pickup: Dirt, mulch, sod, rocks, bricks, tile, concrete, tires, car batteries, motor oil, cooking oil, CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS, waste generated by a contractor, or any material or items deemed hazardous materials. Please do not dispose of gasoline, motor oil, liquid paints, cooking oil, or any other liquid items in a container that are not visible to Best Trash personnel. If such items result in spillage that causes a stain, Best Trash is NOT responsible for the cleanup.

Do you pick up unlimited bags of yard debris? No, we will collect up to 5 bags, not heavier than 40 lbs., per pickup day. Please note that this can change due to current conditions. Please note that yard debris does not include mulch or dirt as they are items we do not accept.

Do you pick up tree branches? Yes, we can pick up tree branches, shrubs, and brush trimmings, but they need to be properly tied and bundled. Please separate the bundles to show that they are clearly tied and bundled. All tied bundles must be less than 40 pounds and no greater than 4 feet in length with no branch diameter exceeding 3 inches. These requirements allow for easier pickup and prevent damage to our equipment. Please leave out no more than 5 tied bundles at a time. Please do not fill your trash can with the limbs. Please note: If a natural disaster occurs, the tree limbs are considered storm debris and may require different arrangements for pick up. Please consult our website during storm conditions for further instructions and/or pick up information.

Will you take the yard debris that my landscaper put at the curb? No. If you hire a landscaper or contractor to work on your yard, they are responsible for the haul-off of the yard debris. You may contact Best Trash at  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to provide a picture and receive a quote for a special collection.

Can I place my household trash out in trash bags? Yes, it is recommended that all loose trash is bagged. You may place your household trash out in bags for collection. Please limit it to no more than 40 lbs.

Can we have more than one Best Trash container? No, the contract states one trash can per household. If for any reason you find the need to use an additional personal trash container, make sure it is between 30 and 50 gallons in size. Please do not use any trash cans that are smaller than 30 gallons as the crew will think it is out to be collected as trash. Or you can always bag overflow trash and set it next to your provided trash container.

What should I do if my Best Trash cart needs to be repaired? If your Best Trash cart needs to be repaired, please submit a contact us inquiry indicating what is damaged on the container so we can schedule a repair or have it replaced. This only applies to Best Trash-supplied containers.
